The Ball is Rolling.

The Ball is Rolling.

I had another pain management appointment today, and the ball is rolling. What ball? The one that involves a referral to a neurosurgeon for spinal surgery to relieve the pressure on my sciatic nerve. My pain doctor and I are in agreement — surgery is the best option for me.

Which means that I’m now on crunch time. I NEED to finish King of Swords and Six More Weeks of Witches as soon as humanly possible.

I don’t know what this is going to mean for my summer shows. It all depends on when the surgery is scheduled, and we’re not there yet. Be advised that some of the shows on my calendar will probably be going away. More on that as I know more.

I’ve put my newsletter on hiatus for the foreseeable future. I’m probably going to do the same with the blog. I’m going to hold off on putting this on the shelf until I know more and have a date. And I’ll be continuing to plan for the shows until I know for certain I can’t attend. So for my next show, I’ll be back to the Oviedo Mall on June 6th for the Summer Lovin’ book festival. After that, I just confirmed that we’ll be in the vendor pavilion at the Enchanted Knights Solstice Faire in Sanford, Florida. We’re taking over the town, folks!

More news as I find out more.

Clever Headline Goes Here.

Clever Headline Goes Here.

“Clever Headline Goes Here.” Otherwise known as “this is your brain on sciatica pain.”

I thought I pulled a muscle exercising. So I did what you usually do when you pull a muscle — anti-inflammatory medication, heat and ice, gentle stretching. Then the pins-and-needles started, and I hied myself off to the orthopaedist. Ortho set me up with six weeks of physical therapy and sent me to see a pain management doctor.

I know I’ve mentioned this in the blog before, back in March when I was just about to start PT, and I was going in for an MRI. The MRI showed that my L5 disc is sitting on the sciatic nerve. To fix it? Well, a week from today, I’ll be getting an epidural injection of steroids and painkillers into my lower back.

(Yes, this is my way of telling you that there won’t be a blog post next week.)

If the injection works? Great! I can get back to being exercising, sitting comfortably, and able to sleep through the night. If it doesn’t work?

Surgery.

Between now and then? I’m going to be a guest on Good Day Orlando on Thursday the 30th! (7AM call! Eep!) Then on Saturday the 2nd, we’ll be at the Great Geek Gathering at the Oviedo Mall!

As for next Monday? Think some good thoughts for me, will you?

Caffeine Levels Insufficient

Caffeine Levels Insufficient

My brain, right now: “Event complete. Commence prep for ICFA. Warning. Caffeine levels insufficient.”

We just finished our weekend Renaissance Faire at the Oviedo Mall, and now I have two days to do everything that needs to be done in order to pack for ICFA, then a morning to actually PACK and get on the road. Now, it’s not far from my house to ICFA, so getting there isn’t a problem. My problem is getting ready so I can leave to get there.

I did my show wrap up, and ordered things I’m low on from stock and swag. I’m almost done with laundry. I’ve printed off everything that needs printing off (I think). I’m updating and charging my tablet so I’m ready for my reading (I’ll be reading from Have Yourself a Merry Little Witchmas.) I still have to pull books for the book room, and I have to pack my laptop. I’m not doing that today — I haven’t put any words into King of Swords since Friday, and that needs to happen. I did do some notebook writing at the Faire, and that needs to get moved into the manuscript.

And it doesn’t help that we’re right now having a ridiculous storm, and there’s a chance at any moment that I might have to go run and hide in a closet because tornadoes. Ah, springtime in Florida.

Okay. Off to keep on keeping on.

Happy New Year? I Think?

Happy New Year? I Think?

Boy, 2026 started off…

I think that’s all we can say, isn’t it. 2026 started off. Happy New Year? I think?

Today is my first day back from a much-needed break. Today, I get started on the sensitivity edits on The Coral Throne, which I hope won’t take more than a week or two. Once they’re done, I’ll be able to get the cover started for the book (I have the stock images already picked out. It’s Daanir on the cover and I can’t wait for you to see him!)

And while we’re talking about The Coral Throne universe, I get to announce that The Sea Prince made it through the lottery for SPFBO 11! It will be read by a blog with which I am unfamiliar (The Fantasy Hive). I hope they like it!

In other news, Have Yourself a Merry Little Witchmas came out on December 23rd, and you can find it on Kindle Unlimited. I’m currently thinking about the next book in the Coven Tree series (tentative title — Six More Weeks of Witches), and planning out the series as a whole. I might start actually writing it if things stay quiet at the tents at the Highland Games. We’ll see how that goes.

The Highland Games are why I’m not jumping right into working on King of Swords. I’m going to be distracted by prep for the Games, and I know it, so I’m going to work on something shorter and easier to transition away from if I need to go do something else. If you come by the Games, you’ll find me at Bairn Care, near the clan tents. Stop in and say hi!

The other project I’m pulling out of mothballs is Holy Orders, which is the sequel to Heart’s Master. 2026 marks ten years since Heart’s Master first came out, and I really should get the next book done. Especially since Coven Tree is set in the same universe, and we might be seeing some familiar faces in the later Coven Tree books. I just need to see where I broke the manuscript (which is why I put it aside the first time.)

In person events are lining up in the schedule. I have at least one a month for every month except May (and I might be traveling in May, so I may leave that month open.) The schedule is below, so check it out and come find me at an event!

Merlina Sherbourne was ready to close her magical shop for the holidays—until a charming stranger appears at her door carrying a curse and a quiet kind of desperation.

Camber Kincaid never meant to fall under a spell, but one enchanted ring leaves him with no choice but to seek help from a witch he’s never met. With Christmas fast approaching and magic misbehaving, Merlina agrees to help him break the curse… even if it means changing her holiday plans entirely.

What begins as a practical arrangement quickly turns into something warmer. Late-night conversations, gentle magic, and shared meals by the fire draw them closer, and soon Merlina and Camber discover that some connections feel impossibly natural—like they’ve always belonged together. As family secrets surface and old magic stirs, they’ll have to trust not only their spells, but their hearts.

Sweet, tender, and wrapped in holiday charm, Have Yourself a Merry Little Witchmas is a cozy paranormal romance about found family, soft magic, and falling in love when you least expect it.

Perfect for readers who love low-stakes romance, witchy coziness, and comforting seasonal reads to return to year after year.
