THEO

Thirty! Ish. Thirty-ish.

Thirty! Ish. Thirty-ish.

It used to be that when you finished writing an article, you marked it -30-. Thirty meant done. Complete. Finished. Yesterday, I hit Thirty on Have Yourself a Merry Little Witchmas. Ish. Thirty-ish. It came in WAY over my target words. I was told November 1st and 20,000 words. What I ended up with was 29,413 words on November 2nd. Hey, it’s still a novella!

It’s also been sent off, so we’ll see what we see. I need to flesh out this world now, which is going to be part of my “I’m not really working until January” break. My to-dos for now? Worldbuilding for the Coven Tree universe. Edits on The Coral Throne. Reading the TBR pile that’s taller than I am. And three shows.

And possibly…. jury duty. I was summoned to be on call for Federal jury duty. My on call period starts November 14th at 6PM, and runs until December 5th, which means I need to call the courthouse every Friday to see if they need me the following week. If they need me, I have to get myself down into Orlando to serve. Oh, and no electronics allowed — it’s not like the county courthouse where I could bring my laptop and work. I can’t even bring my cell phone in!

I’ll get a lot of reading done, I suppose. And possibly knitting. I have to check and see if I can bring my knitting in.

Other than that? I’ll be cleaning in preparation for the holidays, and because I finished a book (or two) and therefore must clean. I’ll be meal planing for Thanksgiving, and deciding on what will be made for Cookiepocalypse 2025.

And trying not to fall asleep at my keyboard. My brain has decided the book is done, it’s time for a nap.

Snore….

A hero. A son of Eire. A reckoning long overdue.

Lorcan never asked for glory. Crowned a noble and hailed as a savior after crushing rebellion, he walks the marble halls adored by all—except himself. Haunted by prophetic visions, he sees not triumph, but torment: his family caged, his homeland threatened, and his cousin’s dark ambitions on the rise.

He knows where he must go.

Leaving behind the splendor of Empire, Lorcan returns to the emerald wilds of Eire, where ancient magic stirs and old loyalties are tested. Beside him stand his mates and his chosen kin—fierce, loyal, and willing to follow him into the heart of danger. But the blood that binds can also betray, and the most dangerous enemy may not be on the battlefield… but seated at his own family’s table.

That’ll Do, Liz. That’ll Do.

That’ll Do, Liz. That’ll Do.

Four shows in seven weeks, done. Barring any last minute direct sales through the website, I am done with 2024. That’ll do, Liz. That’ll do.

I do still have some housekeeping to get taken care of. Quarterly taxes in late December (I could do it now, but I already had to refile quarterly taxes once already this year because a direct sale slipped in last minute.) I need to repack the boxes and take inventory, but that can wait until December.

I’m not ready to blog about last week and the heartbreak elections. I spent most of last week in an anxiety whirl, and then went right into a show, which helped me break out of the death spiral (fake it ’til you make it is REAL, y’all. I was by necessity projecting happy and upbeat and cheerful all weekend, which gave my brain a hard reboot.) Now that I’m thinking more clearly, I need to figure out what the next step is.

I’m not stopping what I’m doing. I’m still going to write. As I wrote in my newsletter last week, I’ve got a manuscript to finish. I’ve got another book to edit. I’ve got work to do to tell stories about people who love unreservedly and with their whole hearts. I’ve got queer fantasy and science fiction to write and I WILL NOT let anyone tell me that I cannot.

Tomorrow, I ‘m going to sit down and go over consignment agreements for two new stores in my area, and decide which books I want where. I’m going to research Tiktok shops and see if I want to start one up for book sales. I need to keep working on King of Swords, which just had another wordcount bump. I also need to finish the outline for the Covert Saloon series, and decide which series I’m going to start as a serial on THEO. And I need to start uploading Written in Water to THEO, too. Oh, and get started on a slow clean of the house for Thanksgiving.

But for now, I need to rest. I’m more wiped out than I’ve been in a long time.

Things To Remember

You’re not alone.

We’re here.

We’re together.

What do we do when the hope is gone?

We make more.

Let’s make some hope.

Making It!

Making It!

It’s Maker Faire Week and we are making it! Making what? Well… words. And making it to Maker Faire. I found out this morning that we will be in the Spirit building, in space SF6. According to the map, this appears to be Writer’s Row — we’re one of three authors in that aisle, and we’re next to a bookshop. So come and check us out and read all the things!

Tomorrow is Election Day. You’ve voted, right? Or you’re voting tomorrow? Remember, it’s important!

According to my wordcount, I am just over 75% done with King of Swords. According to the story… not even close. It might be closer to 50%, with the hinge coming in the next chapter. Which may mean this is two books. I hope not, but we’ll see. I’m just going to keep going until the story is done, and then I’ll decide when I edit if I’m breaking it up or just having having the third book be bigger than the first two combined. I’d like to see this book done by the end of the year, but… yeah, we’ll see how that goes. I’m not going to rush it — there needs to be some resting in and around the rest of the end of the year things.

Last week saw the first for me. Worlds Begin was #1 in two separate categories! (And, for the record, it still is! I took this screenshot two seconds ago!)

I have never before had a #1 in a category of anything — best I’ve ever seen was #2.

Once Maker Faire is over, I’ll be starting to reserialize the Heir to the Firstborn books on THEO. It’ll take me a bit to get all of the books uploaded, but once I do, they’ll be available to read the way I originally wrote them. (Mostly — the original serial wasn’t fully edited. Remember, the chapters were originally going live as I wrote them, with minimal edits. On THEO, you’ll be getting the finished and polished chapters.)

And that’s about all from my neck of the woods. Remember, if you come out to Maker Faire, let me know you saw this post and you get a discount on books!

Once More Into the Beach… errr…Breach…

Once More Into the Beach… errr…Breach…

It’s a show week! Ready for Wizards, Witches and the Weird in Daytona Beach! Once more into the beach… errr… breach, dear friends…

Since we’re on show three of four, everything is still stacked in the living room, waiting to be loaded into the car on Saturday for a “what time did you say we have to leave???” departure on Sunday. I’m in space 38, which is along the left wall as you come in to the Ocean Center, and three from the end. Remember, if you mention you saw this post or that you follow me on social media when you come to the table, you get a discount on purchases!

I’m really looking forward to this show — it looks like it’s going to be a fun day, and the vendors look fantastic! (There’s a list if you go to the event link above.)

I’m also looking forward to the show in two weeks, which will be two days at Maker Faire Orlando. I don’t know where I’ll be setting up yet, but as soon as I know, you’ll know.

Before all of that? Early voting just opened today in Central Florida. We’ll be voting tomorrow. GO VOTE!

And then? What’s after Maker Faire?

A long rest before I start cooking for Thanksgiving. Cleaning my house. Finishing King of Swords. Edits on Morrigan’s Heir (and possible Morrigan’s Wrath.) And seeing what I’ll be writing for my first original piece for THEO. I’ll be starting with them with reprints, to give myself some time to get things planned and get started, but it’s looking like this is where my serial writing will be heading, and my serial writing is going to be a bit more spicy in the future! Since they take all heat levels, my work there may be starting with rerunning the Heir to the Firstborn serial, starting with Written in Water. As soon as my work on THEO starts going live, I’ll let you all know. And if you’re an author interested in taking a closer look? Click the blog button at the bottom of the THEO page. There’s more information there.

And remember… Cookiepocalypse is coming…
